2 of ????

Sliding the drawer open slowly she discovered it was full of junk. There were old wrappers from chewing gum, caps from cola bottles, paperclips, pencils, and much more. It was a mess. Her throbbing headache that had yet to go away left her little patience to peruse further through the chaos that was the drawer. She closed it and lay back down on the bed. It smelled clean. Though, judging from the dust on everything else it was probably not.
She had overexerted herself and found that she was tired. Feeling that lying down might help; she could feel her eyes close against her will she found herself giving in. Sleep would probably help the aching in her head. Then when she awoke she could do more to discover what in the world was going on. She was too far gone to bring herself back now. But, on her way to the dream world she thought she could hear the creaking of a door….

1 of ????

She awoke with a throbbing in her head. She could not quite pinpoint where the pain originated. Opening her eyes she realized that the room she was in was dim, so it was easy for her to focus. Then, she realized that she did not recognize the room. She was alone, lying on a single bed with a small bedside lamp to her right. It gave off enough light to see around the room. Putting her hands on her head she tried to find the spot where the pain was coming from. She found a small knot on the back of her head on the left side. She tried to remember what happened but for the life of her she could not. Now that she thought about it, she could not remember anything. She did not know who she was, where she was, or even what day it was!
She tried to move off of the bed and received a quick understanding that something was tied to her leg. A chain that was thick and heavy. Though she was chained she still had enough length to get up and explore a little further. At first, when she stood up she thought she would pass out from the pain. Her right ankle felt sprained. Does that mean she was running from someone? Still determined to investigate her situation more, she limped away from the bed.
On the right she noticed that there was a mirror on the wall. As she inched closer, she saw that she could just make out her image. She could tell that she had short hair and that she looked pretty dingy. The mirror itself wasn’t anything to brag about. It had a nice film of dust covering it. Below the mirror, there was a wooden dresser. It was old and dusty as well. Trying to open the drawers she found most of them locked. There were three small drawers for the top row; then below that there were two larger drawers. The two large drawers were open. The first appeared to have extra sheets for the single bed. The one below was filled with hospital gowns.
Slowly hobbling back to the bed feeling discouraged she noticed that the bedside table also had a drawer.

Retraction of Thievery

I called the bookstore yesterday to find that vandalism nor thievery occurred. Their window was smashed out by an eighteen wheeler that drove by. Apparently it was either carrying tires (one falling off the back) or just lost one without knowing it! Or, it seems they didn't know because they did not stop. Yikes.
The worker there told me that the damage was pretty bad and it was lucky that no one was in the area where the wheel came flying in because they would not have survived. Luckily, I did find out that their insurance will cover damages.
More planting was done this week. Yesterday I discovered the Old Farmers Almanac website thanks to a co-worker. I used to read them all the time going to feed stores with my dad. I thought they were the coolest thing ever. Needless to say, I still feel that way! I signed up for the newsletter and started printed all kinds of stuff from their site.
Also, I took some tips yesterday, went and bought seed potatoes and put them in a pot instead of in the ground. It might be a little late to grow them, but I am looking forward to see if they come out. This seems a lot easier than trying to dig them out of the ground when they are ready. They called them trash can potatoes. I did carrots, radishes, and artichokes the same way! I hope I get better results this year than I did last year. We will see!

Thievery

This morning on the way to work I had to call the police to report a robbery. Or, at least it looked like a robbery. I live out in Denham Springs and drive through the antique district every morning. This morning I noticed that the glass was broken at the bookstore shop in the antique strip and looking in a lot of the shelves were empty and messed up. So, I am not sure if it was vandalism or thievery. Either way it was sad to see.

It is a small world though. The dispatch lady that I spoke with had a daughter who was 11 named Joni as well. I thought that was kinda neat.

Figuring out how this works...

So, recently I found out that my friend Wendy has started a blog about the books she is reading. Then I realized, wow, I already have a membership. I started last year and never did anything with it. I didn't really understand it. I have now subscribed to my first blog so that I can keep up with my friends reading information and it was not hard to do at all. Maybe now I will be able to get myself writing on here more often. We will see!
